ABES-SP: Câmara Técnica de Meio Ambiente retoma atividades com debate sobre mudanças climáticas e crescimento urbano

A ABES Seção São Paulo relançou, nesta sexta-feira, dia 9 de junho, a Câmara Técnica de Meio Ambiente e Mudanças Climáticas, sob coordenação de Ricardo Crepaldi.

O evento de relançamento inaugurou a série de bate-papos com o público “Café com Debate” e contou com a presença do Professor Lima Pontes, membro do Conselho da AIDIS – Associação Interamericana de Engenharia Sanitária e Ambiental, que representou a presidente da entidade, Carmen Del Pilar Espinioza, e três convidados que conversaram com o público sobre o tema “Mudanças climáticas e o crescimento urbano, a responsabilidade da sociedade”: Eduardo Straub, consultor LEED do Green Building Brasil e sócio da StraubJunqueira Consultoria em Sustentabilidade; Prof. Dr. Oscar Vega Bustillos, responsável pelo Centro de Química e Meio Ambiente – CQMA – IPEN/USP SP; e Ricardo Junqueira Fujii, do Programa Mudanças Climáticas e Energia do WWF Brasil.

O coordenador da Câmara, Ricardo Crepaldi, abriu o evento apresentando um breve histórico da ABES-SP e agradecendo a participação dos palestrantes, três conceituados especialistas no tema, e do Professor Lima Pontes.

Crepaldi iniciou fazendo perguntas aos convidados. Eduardo Straub respondeu sobre os selos de certificação na construção civil no Brasil. “O conceito de construção sustentável existe no mundo desde 1994, mas no Brasil iniciou em 2007, com uma construção sustentável em Barueri/SP. Hoje vemos as próprias residências têm certificações. O “Referencial GBC Brasil Casa” é uma das certificações que as pessoas podem aplicar à sua residência. É uma certificação mais simples, mas cumpre todos os quesitos de observação, desde onde será comprado o terreno, projetistas, arquitetura, hidráulica, elétrica, ar condicionado, como fazer o melhor possível para uma casa sustentável. Isso não requer tecnologias mais sofisticadas, soluções simples podem resolver. Um projeto ruim encarece a certificação, mas se o projeto for bem estruturado, isso não acontece. Há um investimento inicial, mas que retorna pro investimento na economia de água, energia elétrica, por exemplo.”

Ricardo Junqueira falou sobre as iniciativas em andamento do WWF Brasil. O trabalho da entidade, que começou com a conservação de espécies, se expandiu para a conservação de biomas e ecossistemas. “Para cuidar dessas regiões é preciso que tenhamos um equilíbrio nas relações com elas. Por isso, passamos a atuar em temas da atividade humana: água, energia, mudanças climáticas. Hoje no Brasil, trabalhamos com a mitigação das emissões de gases de efeito estufa e ações de adaptação. De alguma maneira e em alguma medida teremos que lidar com o aquecimento.”

Sobre os efeitos das mudanças climáticas, ele ressaltou que mostram que poderemos chegar a um aumento de temperatura de até 8 graus, com maior incidência de ventos, escassez hídrica e outros impactos na qualidade de vida. “Atuamos junto a escolas para conscientizar sobre essas questões e estamos preparando um guia de adaptação voltado a entes federados, um guia que será disponibilizado publicamente para ajudar principalmente os governos municipais, mas também as famílias e as empresas.”

O Professor Oscar Vega abordou as mudanças climáticas e seu impacto. “A floresta amazônica que é a maior do mundo, por exemplo, apresenta deslocamento de água pelos ventos. Se temos alterações climáticas na floresta, a quantidade de água também será alterada. Há uma ligação entre a floresta amazônica e o sul do Brasil. Isso acarreta desde impactos na agricultura como na vida nas grandes cidades. Cada vez mais essas mudanças impactam nas nossas vidas, com muita seca ou muitas chuvas em algumas regiões.”

Ricardo Crepaldi ressaltou que a pressão da sociedade pode originar muitas mudanças, como no caso da China, que tem investido em energias sustentáveis. “Nós temos nossos líderes, Mas somos nós que temos que pressionar.”

Os palestrantes também frisaram que a educação é o grande fator de mudança. “A educação formal e na família pode mudar tudo”, afirmou Oscar Veja.

“Tem que começar na educação básica, pois é muito difícil para os adultos mudar os hábitos. Como ocorreu durante a crise hídrica em São Paulo, as pessoas só mudaram seus hábitos por conta de uma necessidade, da emergência. Por isso precisamos reforçar a questão da educação”, disse Eduardo Straub.

“A educação é um investimento caro, de longo prazo e difícil, mas não podemos fugir dela. Precisamos de ações contínuas. É importante associar os conceitos à prática, ao dia a dia das pessoas. Temos que nos esforçar mais pra mostrar a relação da origem da água, sua gestão, como as mudanças climáticas afetam a disponibilidade hídrica, o dia a dia, a energia, os alimentos. Esse é o caminho e os investimentos mais importantes devem ser em educação e saneamento”, refletiu Ricardo Junqueira.

“A educação não precisa ser apenas com professor, especialista, ela parte de cada um de nós, do nosso exemplo na comunidade, no bairro, na igreja etc. Só assim teremos uma sociedade mais justa e sustentável”, pontuou Ricardo Crepaldi.

Outros temas questionados pelo público foram os resíduos na construção civil, impactos de atividade humana entre os países, energias alternativas, adaptação humana e melhoria das condições de saúde e qualidade de vida, entre outros.

Iniciativa bem-vinda

A retomada dos trabalhos da Câmara Técnica de Meio Ambiente e Mudanças Climáticas foi bem recebida pelos convidados. “Iniciativas como esta da Câmara de Meio Ambiente trazem um fórum de debate qualificado. O tema de mudanças climáticas é muito importante, afeta o nosso dia a dia tanto como cidadão como profissional da área de Engenheira Sanitária e Ambiental. Tem muito para contribuir com o planejamento, desenvolvimento e resiliência das nossas cidades”, afirmou Ricardo Junqueira.

Para Eduardo Straub, a CT será importante para abordar os temas relevantes do meio ambiente. “Falamos sobre efeitos das mudanças climáticas, aquecimento global e todos impactos no meio ambiente causados pela humanidade. São tópicos dos ODS (Objetivos de Desenvolvimento Sustentável da ONU), trazem essa parte de engenharia sanitária, como estamos tratando, entre outros. É um tema muito relevante, a coleta de esgoto não é feita 100% na própria cidade de São Paulo. Nem todo mundo tem acesso à rede de esgoto e isso provoca uma série de doenças. Os temas estão interligados e esse evento vem para comemorar a Semana do Meio Ambiente.”

Oscar Vega ressaltou o papel da ABES. “É importante fazer esse evento, especialmente na Semana do Meio Ambiente. Já estamos sentindo as mudanças climáticas, temos seca e muita chuva ao mesmo tempo em todo mundo. A população precisa ficar em alerta, participar dos debates e sugerir soluções. A minha parte é mais científica engloba o Brasil e a América Latina. O problema é global, mas não sentimos as mudanças ocorridas em certas partes do mundo. Temos que estudar esses casos, mensurar e entender para onde estamos indo. Outra coisa que precisamos estudar é a interferência humana sobre o tema e a política dos países. A ONU e alguns países apoiam as mudanças climáticas e o aquecimento global. Acredito que o ser humano uma solução científica para esses problemas ambientais”.

O Professor Luis Augusto de Lima Pontes também elogiou a iniciativa. “Fico satisfeito de ver a Câmara Técnica ativa, nós que somos da AIDIS e temos essa ligação com a ABES. Temos a Divisão de Contaminação Atmosférica e uma Câmbio Climático e estamos vendo como podemos contribuir com a ABES-SP. ”

Para o coordenador Ricardo Crepaldi, a retomada da CT é um marco. “Apesar de todas as dificuldades iniciais, a CT teve uma aceitação muito boa. Vieram pessoas conscientes, que discutiram, que participaram, isso é muito importante. Elas Interagiram, têm opiniões e são formadoras de opiniões.“Com esse grupo, vamos começar a trabalhar com reuniões mensais. Esse tipo de evento pode ser um valor agregado pra a CT porque estimula a participação. A CT vai trabalhar com foco em energias sustentáveis, poluição atmosférica e mudanças climáticas. E nesse contexto também a área ambiental de forma mais geral, florestas e inter-relações, por exemplo. E outra boa notícia é que a AIDIS será parceira da CT em projetos.”

Para o público, é uma oportunidade de participar ativamente do debate. Katia Regina Zara, técnica de Apoio à Pesquisa e mestranda da UFABC de Biotecnociência,  afirmou que o encontro contribuiu muito em relação à troca de ideias. “Foi uma semente pra gente tentar montar um pensamento maior em favor do social.”

Na opinião de Francisco Pansiga Junior, professor de Meio Ambiente e consultor ambiental, os debates ABES são o mais importantes que temos para informar a população sobre questões ambientais e de saneamento básico. Quanto mais informação a população tiver, terá mais conhecimento. Conhecimento traz a riqueza em educação ambiental, diminuindo impactos e aumentando a qualidade de vida.”

Nevertheless think about if you added some great graphics or video clips to give your posts more, “pop”!
