Nos dias 14 e 15 de setembro, a Associação Brasileira de Engenharia Sanitária e Ambiental Seção Pará (ABES-PA) participou do Seminário Técnico: ações para o Manejo Sustentável de Resíduos Sólidos Urbanos (RSU) no Pará, promovido pelo Instituto de Tecnologia, por meio do Programa de Pós-Graduação em Engenharia Sanitária e Ambiental da Universidade Federal do Pará (UFPA).
Representando a ABES-PA, esteve a presidente Vanessa Mello, e Vera Braz, conselheira consultiva. Para as discussões da mesa redonda “Desafios e Oportunidades”, a ABES foi representada pelo Eng. Sanitarista Davi Cavalcante de Oliveira, que compõe o quadro de associados da ABES-PA e está participando das ações da Rede Colaborativa de Apoio e Orientações Técnicas na Elaboração de Planos Municipais de Saneamento (RECOPLAN) da ABES-PA, na qual pode apresentar os resultados das atividades já realizadas no Município de Santa Cruz do Arari.
Dentre as atividades propostas, aconteceu a visita técnica à Central de Processamento e Tratamento de Resíduos Sólidos, o Aterro Sanitário, localizado em Marituba, culminando na finalização do evento.
Vanessa Mello agradeceu pelo convite para participar do evento e reforçou a necessidade da discussão do tema resíduos sólidos, “pois é um dos elementos primordiais no saneamento, haja vista que o manejo destes está diretamente relacionado com a qualidade ambiental, devido a seus impactos nos ecossistemas e na saúde pública”.
