Nota de falecimento: Engº Fábio Lúcio Rodrigues Avelar – ABES-MG

A ABES lamenta profundamente o falecimento do engenheiro civil e um dos ex-presidentes da ABES Seção Minas Gerais, Fábio Lúcio Rodrigues Avelar, nesta terça-feira, 26 de janeiro de 2021.

Fábio Avelar presidiu a ABES-MG por dois mandatos (1983/1985 e 1985/1987) e fez parte da diretoria e conselhos em muitas outras gestões.

Ao longo de sua trajetória, o engenheiro natural de Lagoa Santa, deu importante contribuição ao saneamento e questões ambientais no Estado de Minas Gerais. Nascido em 29 de abril de 1949, Fabinho, como era carinhosamente chamado pelos colegas, trabalhou por muitos anos na Companhia de Saneamento de Minas Gerais, onde ocupou o cargo de Diretor de Operações e Expansão da COPASA-MG. Sua atuação no fomento das concessões dos serviços de abastecimento de água, rendeu reconhecimento e homenagens, como o título de cidadão Benemérito de Cordisburgo, por levar água tratada ao município.

Em 1999, Fábio Avelar trilhou os caminhos da política e foi eleito deputado estadual, onde permaneceu por três mandatos, até 2011. Nesse período, tornou-se membro da Comissão Permanente de Meio Ambiente e Recursos Naturais da Assembleia Legislativa de Minas Gerais, sendo homenageado com o título de Cidadão Honorário de Ponte Nova, por sua contribuição nos debates ambientais.

Fábio Avelar também foi presidente da Associação Brasileira de Águas Subterrâneas (ABAS); diretor presidente da Fundação de Seguridade Social de Minas Gerais (Previminas); presidente da Fundação Libertas de Seguridade Social (Previdência Privada dos Funcionários da COPASA); e atualmente era membro efetivo do Conselho Deliberativo do Instituto de Previdência do Legislativo do Estado de Minas Gerais, mandato 2019/2021.
