Congresso ABES Fenasan 2017 – ABES lança o Ranking da Universalização do Saneamento

A ABES lançou, nesta terça-feira, 3 de outubro, durante o painel da Câmara Temática de Comunicação no Saneamento no Congresso ABES Fenasan 2017, o Ranking ABES da Universalização do Saneamento (veja aqui).

O estudo analisa 231 municípios brasileiros com mais de 100 mil habitantes, que compõem a população de 60% do nosso país. O ranking foi destaques na imprensa brasileira, como no Bom Dia Brasil, da TV Globo (assista aqui), e Jornal da Manhã, da rádio CBN (escute aqui a reportagem).

Nesse ranking os municípios foram classificados em 3 faixas. A primeira delas é “rumo à universalização”. São 14 municípios em nosso país que estão muito próximos de atender aos cinco indicadores de saneamento que são água tratada, coleta de esgoto, tratamento de esgoto, coleta de lixo e disposição adequada de lixo. O segundo bloco é o “compromisso com a universalização”. “São 41 municípios que estão em ritmo acelerado e a gente acredita muito que nos próximos anos estarão com serviços universalizados”, ressalta o presidente da ABES, Roberval Tavares de Souza. O último bloco são os municípios que estão nos “primeiros passos para a universalização”.

“São 176 municípios que estão no início da jornada para atingir a universalização. A meta do país é 2033 e a ABES acredita muito nisso. Acreditamos que a união entre todas as partes interessadas no setor vai fazer com que o país deixe de ter indicadores da África e passe a ter indicadores de país de primeiro mundo. O país é muito rico e precisa de um saneamento forte. O grande desafio que temos é fazer com que a classe política, tanto legislativo como executivo, coloque o saneamento como prioridade de Estado.  Saneamento é saúde e deve ser encarado desta maneira. O estudo demonstra que quanto investirmos em saneamento e tivermos indicadores próximos à universalização, menor será a incidência doenças causadas pela falta de saneamento em nosso país. Há um indicador, a taxa de internações por 100 mil habitantes, que demonstra isso. Pra se ter uma ideia, o bloco de 14 municípios tem 19 internações a cada 100 mil habitantes. Já o último bloco, composto de 176 municípios, tem internações na ordem de 49 a cada 100 mil habitantes, é quase o triplo de internações que demonstra que quanto mais saneamento, mais saúde pra população”, finaliza Roberval.
